Dak Prescott expressed his “wholehearted support’' of Mike McCarthy in an interview with Yahoo Sports earlier this week. The quarterback maintained McCarthy, who is in the final year of his deal, deserved another chance to return to the Cowboys with more influence.

The head coach curiously disagreed with a public display of support from his franchise quarterback. It's been a trying year for the Dallas Cowboys, and in turn, for head coach Mike McCarthy and quarterback Dak Prescott. The latter of the two has seen his playing season come to an end after suffering a hamstring injury in early November.

We take nothing away from Dak Prescott's successful climb to NFL stardom. We take nothing away from his talent and his will. But this all seems like a Cowboys promise he can't keep. ... heck of a story though it would surely be.
