TEHRAN - The Iranian capital Tehran's severe air pollution has led to the closure of schools, universities, and government offices in the province on Wednesday and Thursday.

Tehran’s Air Quality Control Company reported an air quality index of 158 on Monday night, signaling conditions “unhealthy for all age groups.” Authorities urged vulnerable groups, including the elderly, children, and those with health issues, to take precautions as visibility in the capital worsened due to thick smog.

On Tuesday visibility was low in Tehran, and authorities warned of poor air quality and advised the elderly, sick, and children to take extra precautions.
