The Pantone Color Institute has announced its Color of the Year 2025 to the design community: the soft brown Mocha Mousse.

The global color authority officially named Mocha Mousse (PANTONE 17-1230) as the color that will dominate the year to come thanks to its ability to evoke comforts like “cacao, chocolate and coffee” as well as the “natural world,” according to a press release shared on Thursday, Dec. 5.

For its evocative nature and warmth, PANTONE 17-1230 mocha mousse was selected as Pantone’s 2025 color of the year.

When Pantone recently announced Mocha Mousse as Color of the Year 2025, I made a beeline for its website (pantone.com), where I was greeted by a photo of a footed glass cup filled with chocolate mousse looking very luscious and precisely the same color as Dione Lucas's famous chocolate mousse.
