In the wake of the Washington Post's unveiling of its best books of the year, the New York Times is out with its own list of the 10 best books, split into fiction and nonfiction, just two of which appear on the aforementioned list.

There was a magnificent bounty of new book releases in 2024, and we've selected the best of each genre to help you enjoy the crème de la crème.
