Six eyes of 5 patients (6/35, 17.1%) reported discomfort or pain with the ring requiring ... eye had lysis of symblepharon, membrane removal, and sutured AMT at the time of ProKera placement.
The polycarbonate ring is similar to a symblepharon ring with an inner diameter of 16 mm and an outer diameter of 21 mm. ProKera is placed in the eye in a similar fashion to a large contact lens.
