Walgreens jumps on report of talks to sell itself to Sycamore Partners
Walgreens ( NASDAQ: WBA) surged 20% after a report that the drugstore chain is in talks to sell to private equity firm Sycamore Partners. Walgreens Boots Alliance and Sycamore have been talking about a deal that may be completed early next year, according to a WSJ report on Tuesday, which cited people familiar with the matter.
Walgreens shares are down around 60% in 2024 as the company moves to close 1,200 stores within the next three years.
