A thin layer of fog covered parts of Delhi this morning as the minimum temperature dropped below 5 degree Celsius.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted that the minimum temperature will drop to 7.0 degrees Celsius with 75 per cent humidity in Delhi on Wednesday.

Delhi’s air quality deteriorated to ’very poor’, with AQI at 302 on December 8. This follows a brief improvement earlier in the month. Primary pollutants PM 10 and PM 2.5 pose health risks.

Delhi's air quality took a downturn on Sunday, plunging again into the 'very poor' category with an AQI reading of 302 after having improved to the 'moderate' level at the start of December. The air quality had last been recorded in the 'very poor' category on November 30, with a reading of 346.

On Sunday night, a very light rainfall of 0.1 mm was recorded in the Capital. “Overnight scattered rain over parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi and western parts of Uttar Pradesh as well as an increase in wind speed may be responsible for dispersing pollutants.

According to data, the lowest minimum temperature during this period was recorded on December 6, 1987, at 4.1 degrees Celsius.
